Look who we ran into! Our very own Miles Ahead Scholars alumnus, Max, is making waves this summer as an intern with HISD! 🎒💼

From MAS to the Forty Acres , Max is heading into his junior year at The University of Texas at Austin this fall and continuing to lead by example. We love seeing our scholars excel in the professional world and give back to the community. 🤘🏽

Our senior scholars proudly represented the entire cohort at the recent Houston ISD Board Meeting, where district leadership officially recognized the Class of 2026 for their outstanding achievements and bright futures.

Although three of our young men stood on stage to accept the honors, this moment belongs to the collective hard work, late nights, and pure determination of our entire graduating class.

Developing young men who are academically prepared, socially responsible, and equipped to lead.

This past week, our Miles Ahead Scholars truly lived out that mission. Through an intensive week in Washington, D.C. with the Close Up Foundation, 11 of our scholars and 2 guest students used the nation’s capital as a living classroom to connect history, public policy, and democratic institutions to their own futures.

Here’s a look at what they tackled this past week:

▫️Immersive History: Exploring significant sites like the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the MLK Memorial, and the National Archives.
▫️Real-World Politics: Stepping onto Capitol Hill for invaluable, firsthand conversations about public service and leadership with Congressman Christian D. Menefee and Congresswoman Rep. Sylvia Garcia .
▫️Grassroots Leadership: Connecting their experience directly to the My Ballot My Future initiative.

Their work doesn’t end just because the trip did. These young men are returning home as Civic Ambassadors, tasked with bringing fresh ideas and community action plans back to their peers to actively shape their own neighborhoods.

Developing young men who are academically prepared, socially responsible, and equipped to lead.

This past week, our Miles Ahead Scholars truly lived out that mission. At Miles Ahead Scholars, we believe that finding your voice is the ultimate catalyst for leadership. Camren’s journey from the halls of Kashmere Senior High School to a confident college graduate is a powerful testament to that mission.

As a member of our first inaugural class of scholars, Camren learned early on that self-advocacy opens massive doors.

Today, he is a cm laude graduate of Syracuse University, holding a B.S. in Communications & Rhetorical Studies and a double major in Writing & Rhetoric!

While navigating the Orange campus, Camren put his MAS skills straight to work:
▫️Secured competitive editing internships
▫️Spoke at a dean’s conference
▫️Co-authored a published piece on the Syracuse website

Camren’s advice to the next generation of Rams?

“Don’t stay silent, and advocate for yourself. Growth happens gradually... being quiet doesn’t mean your voice has no value.”
Whether his next chapter leads him to become a sports analyst, television host, or a Chief Editor, we know he is well on his way to hitting his goals (and becoming a millionaire by 30!).
