When kids struggle with focus, emotions, or follow-through, the answer isn’t “try harder.”

We help K-12 students build the executive functioning skills that support learning and life.

The ship is hitting the iceberg. We need to get in the lifeboats.🚣

Executive function is the ability to think clearly, act intentionally, understand and regulate our emotions. It is the set of skills that underlie every other skill in life.

When we understand how to manage ourselves through this lens, everything else falls into place.

Students today don’t need to memorize more facts. They need to learn how to ask better questions, synthesize information across subject lines, and rediscover their sense of wonder, curiosity, and excitement for probing into what is still unknown in our world.

This is what we are sorely lacking in our classrooms today. We are inundated with “what” but rarely get taught “how” or “why”.

At REACH, we aim to fix that👏🏻

If you have a child who could use some help with this, let us know. DM us “SKILLS” and we’ll send you more information on our 1-1 coaching programs💛

All you need is a piece of tape on the ground!

Try this the next time your kids need to move and reset their attention -- bonus points for faking them out by stepping in the opposite direction you're telling them to go😂

Comment "SKILLS" and we'll send you more info on our kids executive function coaching programs (schedule a call to learn about our group events!)🧠✨🥳

This is the silliest thing I’ll post on the internet today (probably).

But wait this is actually training some important skills (!!) :

- observational mirroring (watching & repeating)
- hand-eye coordination
- bimanual coordination (ability to use both hands together in a coordinated way)
- fine motor skills (keeping the motion smooth)
- bonus --> frustration tolerance! (bc it's harder than it looks😅)

How'd you do? BE SO HONEST -- tell me it's not just me😂

Comment “SKILLS” and we’ll send you more info on our 1-1 executive function kids coaching programs (and ask about our group events!)🧠✨

Save this for your next group event!

This is a great one for kids to practice working toward a common goal in a low pressure environment -- the idea here is to release and then catch the ball all together without letting it travel too far from its center starting point.

We're working impulse control, group cooperation, and mind-muscle coordination; all skills that transfer to bigger and better things down the line!

I noticed something interesting when we did this...

You can see the younger boy in front is really going for it and having a great time...

Next to him is a slightly older boy who is doing it, but not with quite as much enthusiasm...
..and just off camera are 2 older girls who were barely moving at all (we got them to loosen up eventually, but it took a lot of us being EXTRA SILLY)

Maybe part of this is "just growing up" ...
..but how much of our unwillingness to move our bodies and look a little silly comes from being told by adults over and over to keep ourselves under control?

Forcing endless compliance w/o an outlet (like sitting still at a desk for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week👀) is a perfect recipe for anxiety, “random” outbursts, & reflexive self-abandonment when they experience very real feelings.

Let's change that, shall we?

When a kid struggles with Executive Dysfunction, they do not need more tutoring in math or reading.

They already know how to read. They just don't know when to start reading the book.

They do not need to be told to study harder. They need to be shown how to get started on a project without getting overwhelmed.

That is where our EF coaching can help guide them.

Executive Function coaching is not therapy and it is not traditional tutoring. It is a practical, hands-on partnership where a coach works side by side with your child to figure out where their daily systems are being challenged and builds strategies around things like organizational skills, breaking big projects into smaller steps, and managing frustration when plans change.

When a child constantly forgets homework, loses their gear, or cannot stay focused, their self-esteem takes a hit. After a while they start to believe they are just not smart, good, capable enough or cannot do anything right.

Coaching changes that. Kids learn that they are more than enough and that they are not incapable. They just did not have the right tools yet.

It builds real independence. It lowers the daily stress at home. And it prepares them for college, careers, and adult life.

At Reach Through Education we work with kids and teens in Houston, Conroe and The Woodlands who learn and process the world a little differently. No single system works for every kid and that is exactly why our coaching is warm, flexible, and built around your child.
