My journey has been a remarkable one, marked by significant turning points and a wealth of invaluable lessons. I've harnessed the power of financial literacy instilled by my parents and leveraged it to shape my future, but it was my pivotal decision to venture into the realm of real estate investing that truly charted my course.

As I navigated my career path, I encountered diverse experiences and studies. College, although a part of my journey, ultimately didn't align with my goals. It was during those years that I met my future husband, and together, we built our lives, had a son, and after 15 years, made the difficult choice to part ways. The transition from the stability of a W-2 job to becoming a full-time Realtor was a seismic shift that only fully hit me after my divorce. It illuminated the profound importance of financial planning, particularly when managing the intricacies of 1099 income.

When I committed to my journey as a real estate investor, I was acutely aware of the need to bridge the gap between my current state and my aspirations. It necessitated an earnest pursuit of knowledge and the crafting of a robust plan. The book I've penned encapsulates not only what I've learned but also the arduous path I've traveled to become a successful real estate investor. Let’s talk about self-sabotage and limiting beliefs for a second.

These past few weeks I’ve been working on a training series that helps you to achieve financial success without doubting yourself, and I’m honestly feeling quite emotional because…

I was struggling with this for the longest time and never thought that one day, I’ll be able to help someone else break into the real estate world with confidence.

See, I was sabotaging myself for years, especially after my divorce.

At that time, I wasn’t aware that I thought "I wasn't enough to achieve success on my own". A limiting belief that dictated my reality for so long.

It wasn’t until my first big success in residential and commercial real estate, driven by my personal motto - "When I put my mind to something, I make it happen!" - when I finally realized that I was the only person standing in my way.

So here is the thing: We can choose to disbelief our own thoughts. They are just randomized suggestions from our unconscious mind anyways.

What if the negative things you tell yourself about yourself all day weren’t actually true?

What if you were really made for more?

Now that I have published my book, "Think Like a Real Estate Investor", and been awarded for Top Sales and Marketing multiple times, I can tell you: Financial freedom is not reserved for people that are extraordinarily smart or rich or any of the things you think you need to be.

You can do this.

But you gotta stop self-sabotaging first and limit yourself with false beliefs first.

Have you ever found yourself looking back at your journey at the twists, turns, and unexpected detours that have led you to where you are today?

I sure have, here are 3 lessons that have shaped both my personal and financial growth.

Lesson 1: Embrace Mistakes as Stepping Stones
You know, they say mistakes are the stepping stones to success. And boy, have I stumbled over a few stones on my path!
But those missteps weren’t misfortunes; they were opportunities.
Each misstep was a lesson in disguise, guiding me toward better decisions and a stronger sense of resilience.
I've certainly had my share of "Oops!" and "Oh no!" moments, but looking back, I realize they propelled me forward.
So, if you find yourself in the midst of a misstep, take a breath, acknowledge the lesson, and keep moving forward.
You're closer to your goals than you think.

Lesson 2: Advice to My Past Self
If I could hop into a time machine and chat with my younger self, there's one piece of advice I'd share:
"Embrace the unknown with open arms."
Those moments of uncertainty were where I grew the most.
Embracing change is like giving yourself permission to evolve and thrive.
Nights filled with uncertainty and days weighed down by the fear of the unfamiliar or what might happen?
Been there, done that.
But you know what?
The most exhilarating and memorable chapters of my life unfolded in those uncharted territories.
Embrace change like a friend, for it's where your wings of growth unfurl.

Sometimes, it's easy to look at successful individuals and assume they've always had it all figured out.
But let me tell you, my journey has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs.
There were moments when I questioned my decisions, my abilities, and my path.

Feeling incredibly grateful to be standing here today.

I wouldn't be here if just a couple of years back I didn't make the decision to get serious about my life and finances after going through a divorce.

If you would have told me back then that one day I would be thriving in my current role, helping people step their money game up and reach financial independence, I would have laughed it off.
I used to think you needed to have it all together, be super experienced, and totally confident to achieve success in real estate.
Especially being a black woman, sometimes there is a stigma around us in business.
But let me tell you the real deal: it took determination, hard work, and a willingness to learn and grow.
