Greetings! I am offering tutoring this summer in two forms:
Summer reading - I would read a couple of classics with your child and meet once a week to discuss with the added option of having them write a short reading journal reflection so I can work on their writing skills and ability to write about literature.
Latin review - Once a week Latin review to keep Latin fresh during the summer. This would include vocab drills, grammar forms, and translation. For every two months you don't practice a foreign language, you lose 1 month of what you have learned!
I teach 11th and 12th grade humanities and Latin at TCS and have been tutoring for 10 years.

For April and May, I have a few tutoring openings on Tuesday and Thursday if your child needs help in Latin, composition, or literature. I know sometimes at the end of the school year kids need help bringing their grades up. I work on zoom or you can bring your child to my home. Let me know!

I love using zoom and Google docs to help my students with their writing.
In today’s composition assignment, we’re working from notes she typed up from five sources to write a couple on paragraphs on the Incan empire, complete with footnotes and a bibliography.

I’m rereading this book with one of my students for her literature class and I just can’t get over how much I love it. The first time I read it I was pulled along by the suspense, but this time I know what will happen so I’m appreciating the character development, similes, and the way the novel plays with time.
I don’t care for this cover because it looks like a trashy romance novel.
Who else loves this book?

Why is F***y Price the most disliked Austen heroine? Well, she’s not confident, only a little witty, never stands up for herself, and always hides in the background.
But in her defense, she has one of the strongest moral compasses, takes her faith seriously, finds consolation in books, horse riding, and plants, and embodies the beatitudes of meekness and poverty of spirit. As someone who struggles with social anxiety and was mortifyingly shy as a kid, I really relate to F***y and I would love to have her as a friend so I could defend her honor when others persecute her.
I’m looking forward to discussing this novel with my student next week.
Anyone else have a warm place in their heart for F***y Price?
