I have been studying reptiles since I was a teen, and sharing my passion with anyone who would listen.

My desire is to continue to break misconceptions and alleviate fears, while also doing my part to improve the reptile keeping hobby.

Beautiful ratsnake from an active h**p trip. Grey, midland, central, depending on what day of the week it is. Pantherophis spiloides, recently reclassified as Pantherophis alleghaniensis but hold the phone, that may not be where it stops. Taxonomy keeps you on your toes.

Juvenile diamondback watersnake (Nerodia rhombifer) doing his best limb imitation. It's amazing how well they blend in. We encountered around 15 paddling through the swamp and not telling how many we missed because of how well they blend in.

Another "snake chase". This snake wanted off the road and I was between him amd where he wanted to go. He raised up to try to scare me and then continued his path right beside me and into the water where he feels more safe. This is where people feel chased. They see the snake moving in their direction and then they run away and in their memory, they were "chased".

He's thinking "if I don't move maybe they'll think I'm just a leaf".

Snake chase caught on video....or is it?

I cut off his path of escape and he just crawled right past me. Snakes do not chase people.
