🌊🐠 Thank you, Artist Boat, for another outstanding Summer Enrichment experience at Moody Gardens!

Yesterday, our students read informational texts about coral reefs in RLA and learned about these marine ecosystems in Science. Today, they were able to see that learning come to life through interactive exhibits and up-close encounters with marine life.

Learning is most powerful when students can connect the classroom to the real world. Thank you to our partners at Artist Boat for helping make that possible!

Ayer, nuestros estudiantes leyeron textos informativos sobre los arrecifes de coral en RLA y aprendieron sobre estos ecosistemas marinos en Ciencias. Hoy pudieron ver ese aprendizaje cobrar vida a través de exhibiciones interactivas y encuentros cercanos con la vida marina.

El aprendizaje es más significativo cuando los estudiantes pueden conectar lo que aprenden en el salón de clases con el mundo real. ¡Gracias a nuestros socios de Artist Boat por hacerlo posible!

🚴‍♂️💨 This past Friday, our students had an incredible learning experience!

A huge thank you to Harris County Public Health for visiting RYSS Middle School at East Aldine and providing valuable information about the dangers of smoking and va**ng. Students learned how these substances impact the body, brain, and long-term health.

Students also received important bike safety tips before being surprised with brand new bikes! 🚲 What an amazing opportunity to promote healthy choices, safety, and wellness for our Owls.

Muchísimas gracias a Harris County Public Health por visitar RYSS Middle School at East Aldine y brindar información valiosa sobre los peligros de fumar y vapear. Los estudiantes aprendieron cómo estas sustancias afectan el cuerpo, el cerebro y la salud a largo plazo.

📚➕🗳️ Real-world learning in action!

Students combined U.S. History and Math this week as they learned about gerrymandering and then applied their numeracy and problem-solving skills in a hands-on puzzle challenge.

This cross-curricular lesson helped students connect math, elections, and civic systems — and they could clearly explain what gerrymandering is and why it matters.

Huge kudos to Mr. JP Cortez for teaching the history behind the lesson and to our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Van Den Bossche, for leading the math application activity! 👏

Esta semana, los estudiantes combinaron Historia de EE.UU. y Matemáticas mientras aprendían sobre el gerrymandering y aplicaban sus habilidades de razonamiento numérico y resolución de problemas en un reto práctico.

Esta lección interdisciplinaria ayudó a los estudiantes a conectar las matemáticas con las elecciones y los sistemas cívicos — y pudieron explicar claramente qué es el gerrymandering y por qué es importante.

Today we celebrate someone who does so much for our school family. Ms. Frances keeps our campus clean, watches over all of us with care, and often surprises staff with homemade breakfast tacos made from the goodness of her heart. 🌮💙💚

Her kindness, dedication, and love for our school do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for everything she does each day to help make RYSS Middle School @ East Aldine feel like home.
