The Upward Bound (UB) Program is federally-funded through a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. UB provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. But what do our students have to say? Here are two of our current students and what Upward Bound means to them.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, except Upward Bound students clicking their mouse,

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Ms. Ramirez soon would be there;

The students were nestled all snug at their desks;
While visions of quadratic equations in their heads,

Away to the window UB students flew like a flash,
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,

But a G-ride and & 7 Upward Bound Extraordinaires,
They knew in a moment she must be Ms. Ramirez.

And she whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Jessica! now, Shannah! now Mrs. Jackson and Ms. Amjad!
On, Coach Yul, on Idalia, Ms. Taylor and Mr. Campbell!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all! To your classes to bring exceptional knowledge to all!"

Today is the last day of the UB Fall Session. Though we are a bit sad to have to say goodbye for now. We are super proud of our students and staff on the work they have accomplished.
