At Opus 1, we’ve always believed that a great musician is a complete musician. That starts with understanding the language of music from the inside out. Music Theory and Ear Training are now core pillars of the Opus 1 Preparatory Program.
These two disciplines go hand in hand. Theory gives you the map; ear training teaches you to hear where you are. Together, they sharpen your instincts, deepen your ensemble skills, and make everything you do in the practice room more intentional. Whether you’re learning to recognize intervals by ear, analyzing the architecture of a string quartet, or developing your sight-reading, these are tools that will continue to make you a more grounded and well-rounded musician.
