02/24/2023

After careful consideration and deliberation with my family, I've officially withdrawn my name from the SBISD Board of Trustee's election this year. I've decided to focus my energies for the remainder of this year on other things I can do to support children and families throughout our district. To those who have given me their support this past year plus, I don't have words to express my appreciation. I look forward to what's next and hope to have your continued support in finding meaningful new ways to encourage and assist families throughout our community.

Just the links from my last post on the hike/bike trails:

We have a survey (flyer attached) out right now and would love for folks to fill it out who either work, attend, or are involved with the high school. The survey is linked here:

We will also have a virtual community meeting about this project on December 13 via Zoom at 6 pm. The meeting will be bilingual, and we will give out gift cards as door prizes at the end. The meeting registration link is here:

Nothing campaign related today but wanted to put out a public notice to anyone still following my page. As many of you may know, I'm a cycling enthusiast and support our local hike and bike trails. That said (please share widely!!)....

BIG NEWS ON SPRING BRANCH HIKE/BIKE TRAILS - As many of us in Binglewood know there was a walking/bike trail recently put in that runs parallel between Emnora and Kempwood. It runs from Wirt to Blalock. There is also a trail from Gessner to Northbrook High School. The Houston Parks Board is working with Spring Branch Management District to connect the 2 trails between Blalock and Northbrook High School. I think this is a great idea but really want to know more! There is a public meeting (on zoom) coming up soon. I'll be watching and would love to see our neighbors there too! Here are a couple of links where the parks board is taking a survey from us about the trails and hosting a zoom meeting next week:

I just want to express my love and appreciation to all my supporters who stood by me throughout the last few months. I don't view yesterday as an ending but rather, today as a continuation of my commitment to working to support families in our district and doing all the things we've been doing for years. I'm looking forward to a Monday morning ride with the kids at Cornerstone and many more experiences ahead. To all the moms, especially my wonderful and supportive wife, happy Mother's Day!

Since I'm not that good on social media, adding one more awesome supporter vid in separate post. Thank you Peyton! Love this vid!

Great to see our supporters out this morning. Thanks to all of you (of every age!)! If you haven't made it out yet, you still have time today! Looking forward to seeing you at the polls!

Just cast my vote at Northbrook Middle School. I'm not saying who I voted for in Position 6 but I bet you can guess! If you haven't already voted today is THE day. Do like I just did and go to your zoned middle school before 7pm and cast your vote for the candidate of your choice. If you need any suggestions, I might know someone for Position 6 that you would like.

Only 1 more day until Election Day! If you elect me to the school board, you will be supporting a trustee who will:

- Focus on identifying successful programs within the district and work to expand on those successes across the entire district.

- Engage with administrators, teachers, and the community to find solutions to the unique challenges that exist across our district.

- Provide oversight and hold the district administration accountable for setting and meeting reading and writing goals, and working aggressively to close the learning gap caused by Covid.

Election day is just 2 days away. If you have not already voted, Saturday, May 7th is your last chance to make your voice heard. A vote for me is a vote for an experienced leader who:

- Understands how to work with the community and bring them together for a common goal.

- Can take new concepts from ideas to reality using committee structured community and expert input.

- Knows how to evaluate established procedures and implement process changes.

Early voting is over! Whew! It's been a long few months but there is still work to do. I might take a short nap tonight but we'll be back up and at it tomorrow, ready to make our final push to Election Day. Looking forward to a few more days of campaigning before the real work begins. Thanks to everyone who has supported my campaign so far. And extra thanks to my family, who has always supported me in every endeavor.

Today is National Teachers day and this week is teacher appreciation week, I wanted to take a moment to show my appreciation for 2 teachers that were such a big influence on me and helped produce the young man in this picture (my senior yearbook photo). My middle school English teachers, Mrs. Walker and Mr. Trainor were amazing teachers who recognized the unique challenges a young boy was going through and found ways to encourage me while holding me to their high standards. I always got their encouragement and support. To all the current and past teachers out there that work so hard to teach, encourage, and support students every day. Your work is so important and appreciated! Thank you for all you do.
