We had a Saturday work day where we invited the virtual students to visit the campus. It was suggested to have a drawing conclusions activity where we put items in a bag we think define us and students draw their conclusions. Item 1 - the film camera. Student: what's that? Me: it's a camera. S: you don't use a phone? M: sometimes, but I like these better. S: take my picture. M: I can't, there's no film. S: what's that? M: (going to my purse to find the used canister that needs to be dropped off) the "plastic" is in here. S: in that battery? M: it's not a battery. (I explained a little more, she kind of gets it). S: oh like a movie! M: kind of. S: can we make a movie? Me: no. S: (disapproving look of disgust.) Item 2- a group of CDs on top. S: now I know you've lost your mind! M: I have, but state your evidence. S: there's no way to watch those anymore! M: you don't watch them, you listen to them. S: M: you don't have a dvd player? S: you don't Spotify? Who's ?
