CASE for Kids

We had an amazing day this past Saturday celebrating MARKET DAY, the culminating event for our Kids' Day Entrepreneurship project. A total of 14 CASE for Kids afterschool programs came together to showcase their entrepreneurial skills by selling products and services they created over the last few months. There was so much creativity and originality on display - we had everything from hand-made soaps, car air fresheners, tie dye socks, hand massages, jewelry and baseball hats with positive affirmations. A good time was had by all! We are grateful for the support of our funders including , and . Also thank you to our generous in-kind supporters including: AAA Trophy, Kolache Factory, The Home Depot, Fusion Food Marketing & Sales, Target Evolution and Raising Cane's.

We had an absolutely amazing time last week celebrating Afterschool Professionals Awareness Week here at CASE for Kids. We started the week with a popcorn snack, then on Tuesday we gathered for a 20-minute movie, after that we were treated to a song & flowers, on Thursday we played an awesome bingo game, and on Friday we wrapped up the week with a yummy lunch featuring AFTERSCHOOL NACHOS! We are grateful to all of the amazing individuals who work hard every day to provide a safe and fun learning environment for youth after the regular school day ends. Are you ready to explore the final frontier of leadership? Join CASE for Kids and the YMCA of Greater Houston for the 2025 Spring Leadership Symposium!

Attendees can earn up to 3.5 CEU credits choosing from an array of workshops on topics to support youth, building effective family engagement plans, and exploring different leadership styles.

This year’s keynote presenter is Wendy Dawson, the Executive Director of Social Motion. Ms. Dawson will focus on breaking down stereotypes and understanding the skills necessary regarding autism in education.

Additionally, there will be resources available, such as recruitment for YMCA summer work opportunities and a display from the CASE for Kids SmartZone!

Date/Time: Friday, March 21, 2025, from 8:30 am until 2:00 pm.

Location: HCDE Conference Center, 5th floor, 6300 Irvington Blvd, Houston, Tx. 77022

Cost: $50 for in-county attendees and $55 for out-of-county attendees. Registrants should bring a check or money order payable to Harris County Department of Education. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
