This centerpiece sits in the middle of our circle.

It reminds us that everyone belongs here.

In circle, the center represents something bigger than any one person — our shared humanity, our stories, our willingness to listen and learn from each other.

Sometimes the smallest things in a room can carry the biggest meaning.

When we slow down, sit together, and listen, community begins to grow.

Today I’m sharing The Den — a calm space where students can come to regulate, reset, and return.

Discipline isn’t about punishment.
Discipline means teaching.

Sometimes a student doesn’t need a consequence first.
They need a moment to slow down, breathe, and regulate their nervous system so they can make a better choice.

The Den gives students a structured place to do exactly that.

This space teaches students how to:
• pause
• regulate emotions
• reflect
• return ready to learn

Real discipline helps students build skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

When we teach regulation, we strengthen responsibility.
When we teach reset, we build resilience.

That’s what Reset and Return is all about.
