CMS welcomed back our returning 7th and 8th grade Bobcats for another wonderful school year! We were also excited to welcome our new 6th graders and help them navigate the middle school. Things are off to a fantastic start, and we’re sure there are many more exciting things to come!

COACH KELLY POWELL RECORDS 600TH CAREER VICTORY IN VHSL GOLF
RANDOLPH-HENRY HIGH SCHOOL — August 11, 2026 — Randolph-Henry High School celebrated a remarkable milestone on Monday, August 10, as legendary golf coach Kelly Powell was honored for recording his 600th career VHSL golf victory.

The milestone victory was achieved on August 7, 2026, at Lunenburg Country Club, marking another extraordinary chapter in a coaching career that has spanned more than three decades.

On August 10, Coach Powell was surrounded by family, friends, and generations of current and former players at Briery Country Club, where Randolph-Henry Athletics recognized his achievement with a commemorative plaque honoring his 600th career victory.

For more than 30 years, Coach Powell has represented the very best of Randolph-Henry High School and its athletic tradition. His impact, however, extends far beyond wins and losses. Throughout his career, he has served as a mentor, coach, teacher, and friend to countless student-athletes, helping young people develop not only as golfers, but also as individuals.

The 600 victories are an extraordinary testament to his longevity, consistency, commitment, and passion for the game. Yet for the many players who have had the privilege of playing for Coach Powell, his greatest legacy is found in the lessons learned, relationships built, and lives influenced along the way.

“Coach Powell’s 600th victory is an incredible accomplishment, but it is only one measure of the impact he has had on Randolph-Henry High School,” said Randolph-Henry Athletic Director Christopher Holt. “For more than three decades, he has invested in young people and represented our school with class, loyalty, and pride. He has been a mentor, a coach, and a friend to so many. Coach Powell is, in every sense of the word, a true Statesman.”

Coach Powell's career serves as a lasting reminder that coaching is about far more than the scoreboard. It is about relationships, character, perseverance, and giving young people someone to believe in.

Randolph-Henry High School proudly celebrates Coach Kelly Powell — 600 victories, more than three decades of service, and a legacy that will endure for generations of Statesmen.

♥️ A huge thank-you to the volunteers at Midway Baptist Church who showed up with lunch and helped beautify our Phenix Elementary School grounds before the children return to school. We even had some retired teachers and student alumni return to help pull weeds around the school and serve a delicious lunch! 🌿 🌮
