There are some people who become part of your story without you even realizing it at the time.
They are the ones whose laughter you can hear from down the hallway. The ones who could walk into a room and somehow make it feel a little lighter. The ones who had a warm smile, had a story for everything, and never seemed to lose their sense of humor, even on the busiest of days.
For so many in our Blue Lion Family, Mrs. Robin Fleak was that person.
Mrs. Fleak passed away on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith and countless lives touched along the way. It is with hearts that are hurting, yet filled with gratitude, that we honor the life and legacy of someone who was so much more than a teacher. Mrs. Fleak was a wife, a mother, a friend, a mentor, a faithful servant, and a true Blue Lion who gave so much of herself to the children and families of Washington Court House.
Mrs. Fleak was a proud 1980 graduate of Washington Senior High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Wilmington College and her master’s degree from Wright State University. In 1988, she began her journey with Washington City Schools as a full-time substitute teacher. She served at Eastside in fourth grade before finding her home in first grade, where she taught at both Belle Aire and Cherry Hill Primary.
And it was there that so much of Mrs. Fleak’s heart could be found.
She had a way of making children feel known. She built relationships with her students, their families and her colleagues, and those relationships became the foundation of everything she did. She brought joy into learning, warmth into her classroom and a sense of belonging that children carried with them.
Mrs. Fleak also had a way of making things her own. Her classroom was always changing because she loved rearranging and refreshing her space, creating something new and special for her students. She found joy in reading, spending time in her pool, traveling and making memories with the people she loved.
But if you knew Mrs. Fleak, you know that her greatest gifts could not be measured by what was on a classroom wall or written in a lesson plan.
You remember that smile.
You remember the way she could make you laugh when you needed it most. You remember her stories, her humor and the way she made people feel simply by being Mrs. Fleak.
And then there was her faith.
Mrs. Fleak carried her faith with her through every season of life. It was a part of who she was, a source of strength and a foundation she trusted every single day.
Mrs. Fleak loved deeply, and no one was loved more deeply than her family. Her beloved husband, Jerry, and her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kayla, were so very precious to her.
Mrs. Fleak retired from Cherry Hill Primary in 2019, but she never really retired from being a Blue Lion. Some people leave a school when they retire. Others leave behind a legacy that continues in the halls, in the classrooms and in the hearts of the children they taught.
Mrs. Fleak did just that.
So today, our Blue Lion Family remembers her with gratitude.
We remember the teacher who loved her students.
The colleague who was always there.
The friend who could make you laugh.
The woman whose faith never wavered.
The wife and mother who loved her family fiercely.
And the familiar face whose warm embrace we will always remember.
We will miss her more than words can say, but we are thankful for the years, the memories, the laughter and the love she gave so freely.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Victory Church, 26 Bowers St., Bloomingburg, OH 43106, with Pastor Bill McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Bloomingburg Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Friday from 3:00–7:00 p.m.
