What could revenue from the proposed 1% sales and use tax fund?

If approved by voters, the revenue could only be used for eligible school capital projects under Virginia law. These projects may include:

➡️ Construction, renovation and modernization of school facilities

➡️ Major building and infrastructure improvements

➡️ Other eligible capital projects and related financing costs

The funding could not be used for day-to-day school operations. Instead, it would provide a dedicated source of funding for long-term investments in our school facilities.

NCPS Families:

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and secure schools, Nottoway County Public Schools will conduct a lockdown drill at our schools this week. These drills are an important part of our comprehensive school safety procedures and allow students and staff to practice how to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.

Please know that this is only a drill. There is no threat or emergency at our schools. Students will remain under the supervision of school staff throughout the drill, and the exercise will be conducted in an age-appropriate manner.

We understand that safety drills can sometimes cause concern for students and families. Our goal is to ensure that everyone knows what to do during an emergency while providing a calm, supportive environment for our students.
