Thank you to our friends at Fayette County Public Health-OHIO for inviting Sarah to your office to offer free testing for pressure canning. Accurate pressure is essential for preventing botulism and ensuring safe home canned goods.

Haven't gotten your canner tested this year? There is still one more chance to see Sarah and her tester. She will be at the Fayette County Family YMCA - Ohio next week.

A big thank you to Sarah Sowell, educator with Ohio State - Fayette County Extension, for joining us today at Fayette County Public Health for Pressure Canner Testing Day!

Sarah helped community members make sure their pressure canners are working properly and ready for safe home canning. Accurate pressure is important for preventing foodborne illness and keeping those garden goodies safe to enjoy later.

Missed her today? You have another chance! Sarah will be at the Fayette County Family YMCA - Ohio next Tuesday, August 18, for another pressure canner testing opportunity. Details are in the comments.

Don’t forget about the Southwest Ohio Corn Growers Field Day on August 18th.

Field Day 2026 is approaching fast, so it time to introduce our keynote speaker this year, Dr. Chad Lee.

Dr. Chad Lee is an Extension Professor and Agronomist for Corn and Bourbon Grains at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Lee provides statewide leadership in Extension activities related to agronomic management of corn, primarily, and the small grains used in distilling. Dr. Lee leads an applied research program in corn, wheat, rye, barley with an emphasis on high-yielding, high-quality grain production in no-tillage and reduced tillage systems. His work involves cover crops, strip tillage, and crop rotations designed to improve yields and soils. Chad grew up on a farm in southern Ohio where he was active in 4-H and FFA.

🌼Sunflowers are in full bloom at the Fayette County Farm🌼

We invite you to stop by the farm (at the Fayette County Airport) to see the 🌼Sunflower Demonstration Project. These are seed oil sunflowers - the seeds can be used to make oils or in bird feed.
