Ellender Patriot Brigade Boosters

Ok Brigade family, band camp for tomorrow, June 19, has been cancelled. We will have two more practice days before school starts, July 9 and July 23 from 7 am to 3 pm. Have a safe and happy summer, and don’t forget to practice! See y’all on July 9th!!

Due to last night’s severe weather, band camp is canceled today. We hope everyone is safe. Please check Google Classroom and the band app later today for tomorrow’s schedule.

Just a reminder, the brigade is doing a pick-a-date fundraiser for student band fees and general funds. Please help support these hard working students!!

Selathian Miller – Front Ensemble Instructor

Selathian Miller is a proud graduate of Ellender Memorial High School, where he completed his high school education in 2018. He continued his education at Nicholls State University, earning a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 2024.

As the Front Ensemble Instructor for the Patriot Brigade, Selathian is dedicated to helping students grow both musically and personally. He works closely with percussion students to develop strong fundamentals, musical excellence, teamwork, and confidence. His teaching style emphasizes discipline, creativity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Beyond his work with the Patriot Brigade, Selathian has inspired and mentored students in a variety of music programs throughout South Louisiana. Through his passion for education and performance, he strives to make a positive impact on young musicians, encouraging them to reach their full potential both on and off the field.

Selathian believes that music is a powerful tool for personal growth, leadership, and lifelong learning. Through his dedication to music education and performance, he continues to inspire students across South Louisiana to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

Haylee Billiot is a dedicated and passionate individual known for her strong work ethic and vibrant personality. Haylee was in color guard for her 4 years at Ellender, graduating in 2023. In those 4 years she developed discipline, teamwork, and performance skills. Through her role of captain her senior year, she demonstrated creativity, precision and commitment.

Haylee brings energy and focus into everything she does, with a natural ability to stay organized and work well with others. Her experience in colorguard has helped shape her confidence, time management, and attention to detail.

In addition to her accomplishments, Haylee is a proud mother, balancing responsibility and personal growth with grace and determination. Her journey reflects resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose both in her personal life and future goals.

Meet Our Student Teacher
This is Dy’Shaun’s first full marching season with the Patriot Brigade. He has been with us since the beginning of this year. A proud graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School, Dy’Shaun continues to pursue his passion for music and performance. Over the past five years, he has worked with several high school band programs, including Lutcher High School, Morgan City High School, H.L. Bourgeois High School, Ellender Memorial High School, and East Ascension High School.

In addition to teaching, Dy’Shaun pursues percussion arranging and has written for The Pride of Nicholls Marching Band, Morgan City High School, Ellender Memorial High School, and East Ascension High School.

He is currently attending Nicholls State University, where he is pursuing a degree in Instrumental Music Education. As he begins his first marching season with Ellender Memorial, Dy’Shaun looks forward to sharing his passion, knowledge, and experience with the students.

Kason has been a member of the Patriot Brigade for nine seasons now. A graduate of Ellender Memorial High School in 2022, Kason assisted with the operations of the Department of Bands in many capacities as a student. He attended LSU for three years pursuing a degree in Music Education where he was a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland. Kason joined the Brigade staff in the fall of 2022.

Kason is a member of the Board of Directors at Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne, working with other board and community members to bring performing arts to the Houma/Terrebonne Community. He is also the founder and Co-Coordinator of the Baton Rouge TubaChristmas. Kason loves working with his Alma Mater in any capacity to create opportunities for the Ellender student body.

Meet the Auxiliary Instructor: Alexi Tauzin

Alexi graduated from H. L. Bourgeois High School in 2018, and her passion for color guard began even earlier, starting in 8th grade at Evergreen. Over the years, she has not only developed her skills but also embraced the opportunity to give back by instructing at Ellender since 2023. This past season was particularly special as she helped launch Ellender’s first year of Winterguard, marking a significant milestone for the program.

Color guard is more than just an activity for Alexi; it is a form of art that continuously evolves and gains recognition worldwide. She is deeply passionate about learning new tricks and techniques, which keeps her motivated and inspired.

Being part of the Ellender Memorial Patriot Brigade is a true blessing, especially this year as she stepped into a new role as visual effect within the band. This experience has allowed her to grow both as an instructor and performer, contributing to the vibrant spirit of the group.
