Unitech Training Academy - Houma Campus

Students at Unitech Training Academy's Houma Campus are leading a Community Drive to support local young students, individuals, and families throughout the Bayou Region. Through July 23, we're collecting school supplies and hygiene products that will be distributed to those in need through upcoming community outreach efforts.

Whether it's a backpack, a pack of pencils, toothpaste, shampoo, or another everyday essential, every donation can help make someone's classroom or day a little easier and a little brighter.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Day in the Life event at Unitech Houma! Guests didn't just learn about our programs - they experienced them!

As mock patients, visitors stepped into our classrooms, participated in hands-on activities, met instructors and students, and got a firsthand look at what healthcare training looks like across our campus. Instead of hearing about our programs, guests got to see them in action, experiencing what it feels like to be on the receiving end of the care, attention, and skills our students practice every day.

Today’s Unitech campus closure recognizes Juneteenth, a day of reflection, remembrance, and continued commitment to opportunity for all. We'll see everyone back on Monday!

Today, Unitech Training Academy campuses and offices are closed in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a day to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of freedom, equality, and opportunity in our nation.

At Unitech, we believe education creates opportunity. Every day, we are honored to help students develop new skills, pursue meaningful careers, and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

While there is still work to be done, Juneteenth reminds us how far we've come and challenges us to continue building communities where opportunity is within reach for everyone.

We welcome back students and staff on Monday, June 22nd.

As Mental Health Awareness Month came to a close, we were honored to welcome Aaron & Cecilia Daigle of Refresh Group to speak with our evening students.

Aaron shared insights on mental wellness, personal growth, and the importance of seeking support when needed. Through organizations like Refresh Group, individuals have access to both traditional mental health services and life coaching resources designed to help them navigate life's challenges and opportunities.

At Unitech, we believe student success extends beyond the classroom. Supporting the well-being of our students is an important part of helping them build confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation for their future careers.

They have two offices locally, where they're here to help talk about real issues that they can help with - relationships, overwhelm, boundaries, self-confidence, stress management, and more!

Today we remember the brave heroes who gave everything for our country. 🇺🇸

Our campuses and offices will be closed in their memory today.
We will reopen for normal business hours tomorrow.

To wrap up the school year for the kiddos, our Houma team had the opportunity to visit Broadmoor Elementary for a little fun before summer break! 💚

Career Development Coach Jamie and Medical Assistant Instructor Deborah spent time with students during a hands-on outreach activity focused on how math is used every day in healthcare careers.

Students rotated through mini-interview sessions with Mrs. Deborah, where they learned how Medical Assistants use math for:
🩺 Taking vital signs
💉 Measuring injections and medication dosages
📋 Billing and coding processes

The students asked great questions, stayed engaged, and even went home with a few goodies and information about Unitech Training Academy!

Career exploration starts early! We had fun talking about real-world careers and possibilities for these students' big and bright futures!
