6th grade students “mocked” becoming different species trying to survive the winter. Round by round they experienced competition, parasitism, mutualism, and commensalism firsthand.

Along the way, students discovered why no two species can share the same niche for long.

Ask your student: “Which round was the hardest to survive?”

Third grade grandparents lunch.

This week sixth graders explored how energy moves through trophic levels and instead of just reading about it, they modeled it! Using water and food coloring students transferred liquid from level to level (producers➡️ primary consumers➡️ secondary consumers➡️ tertiary consumers), showing visually how only about 10% of energy passes onto the next level.
