We didn’t let a tropical storm ruin our fun on the last day of ! β›ˆοΈ Campers started the day with tour of the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum and a lesson on invasive species!
Then we headed outside for a fun time learning to cast net, use crabbing gear, and put on life jackets! πŸ›Ÿ We stayed cool with water balloons and enjoyed a yummy snack of cupcakes! πŸ’¦

We had an AMAZING trip to Anna Marie Seafood for today! Capt. Lance Nacio gave us a tour of his boat, taught the kids about sustainable fishing, and boiled us some fresh SHRIMP! 🦐 Our campers loved every minute of it!
We ended the day with a Louisiana FOOD FEST! πŸ₯˜

We have some future engineers here at ! A big thanks to T. Baker Smith for teaching our campers about engineering and surveying to protect our coast!πŸ‘·Campers engineered their own structures using pool noodles! Then we learned about the Mississippi River Watershed, and how the river shaped the land of South Louisiana! πŸ’¦

We kicked off the last week of with an amazing trip into the Atchafalaya swamp with A Cajun Man's Swamp Tour! 🐊 We saw tons of native Louisiana plants and wildlife! Then we played a fun game of WETLANDS JEOPARDY to test our campers’ wetlands knowledge! 🎯

ConocoPhillips always puts together an amazing field trip for ! Thank you for teaching us about the work being done to restore our coast! πŸŽ‰
A big thanks to Ducks Unlimited and Restore or Retreat for also teaching us about their coastal restoration projects, such as terracing and marsh creation! 🌎
Campers also carved soap decoys with Mr. Gene Hebert and learned about taxidermy from Mr. Jeff DeBlieux! πŸ¦†
We finished off the day with a talk about oysters with Ms. Rissa Inselman from Nicholls State University Biological Sciences! πŸ¦ͺ

We love visiting the Chauvin Sculpture Garden for ! Dr. Gary LaFleur taught us about the bayous of Terrebonne, the importance of folk art, and the ancient art of Gyotaku, or fish printing! 🐟
We also learned about coastal land loss, coastal restoration techniques, and coastal careers! 🌎
