Ricker College past

Ricker College past Founded in 1847 with a bond issue from the State of Maine. Opened for business fall of 1848 as Houlton Academy. Officially Closed college on May 23, 1978.

The town of Houlton voted down a bond issue to keep it open on May 2,1978.

And now news of the Graduates
"Mrs. Josephine Hersey Mrs. J. Hersey Receives BA at Ricker 'Mrs. 'Josephine DiGiorgio Horsey of Houlton, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mr.s. Joseph Di'Giorgio of 330 South Broadway, Tarr>*town, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ricker 'College at June 10 Commencement E.xercises here. A graduate of Irvington High[ â– School, 3Irs. Hersey was an 'English major and plans to teach in Maine. During her freshman year she acted with the Ricker Players. She sang with a trio for two years, and was a member of the Ricker Chorus for three

years.

I propose we wear black arm bands at the next reunion with RC/RCI on their band, to remind the town of the loss to the Aroostook Community.
