We are so proud to celebrate Marissa, a Michigan Tech Medical Laboratory Science student, on receiving the Dr. Alvin Ring Empowerment Scholarship for Laboratory Students from the ASCP Foundation! 🧪🔬

This scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing careers in the medical laboratory sciences and helps empower the next generation of laboratory professionals.

We are excited to see all that Marissa will accomplish as she continues her journey toward becoming a medical laboratory scientist. Your dedication to the profession is something to be celebrated!

MLS Senior Spotlight: Amber H.

Amber is a graduating senior who has made such a meaningful impact on our program! She is incredibly empathetic, kind, and caring, always going out of her way to support those around her. Amber is not only a thoughtful and friendly classmate, but also a dedicated and hardworking student. You can often find her putting in the extra hours to reach her goals. Her intellectual curiosity and drive truly set her apart. We are so excited that she is heading to medical school and know she has a bright future ahead. Amber is going to do amazing things, and we can’t wait to see all she accomplishes! 🩺✨

After graduation, I will be attending Medical school at Oakland University William Beaumont!! 🐻

There are way too many favorite memories to pick just one! Specific to MLS, I have really loved our phlebotomy class! I’ve already gotten to know and love my classmates over the years, and my senior year, spring semester phleb class let us bond further. It was a literal trust exercise with each of our peers (letting classmates stick needles in our arms!), and I felt like I got so much closer with everyone throughout the semester. I’m going to miss everyone sooo much!!!!

I will miss the amazing people the most!!! The MLS program is made up of some of my favorite people on campus! I could not have been blessed with better professors or a more dedicated, kind, smart, and fun group of peers (who are now some of my best friends from college). I wish I could take you all to med school with me!! Thank you all for making these last 4 years better than anything I could’ve imagined :)

MLS Senior Spotlight: Avery M.

Avery is a recent fall graduate who has been an incredible part of our program! She is a hardworking and dedicated student who consistently strived for excellence in everything she did. As a helpful and supportive TA, Avery made a lasting impact on her peers, always willing to lend a hand and share her knowledge. Her kindness and positivity made her such a valued friend and classmate. We are so excited that she has been accepted to dental school! We know she has a bright future ahead and will do great things in her journey! 🦷✨

It’s been a privilege to attend the Medical Lab Science program at Michigan Tech. In August, I will begin dental school at The Ohio State University.

One of my favorite memories from Michigan Tech was traveling the Midwest with the Women’s Soccer team every fall, especially when we played in the NCAA tournament.

Some things I will miss from my MTU experience are my soccer teammates, my faith community, my MLS labs, and going to school in such a beautiful place!

Ben is a graduating senior whose passion for caring for others, both on and off campus, truly stands out! As a pre-vet student, his compassion and dedication shine through in everything he does. He’s involved in many activities and consistently puts in the hard work to succeed. Ben’s easy going personality (even if he’s not always right on time 😄) makes him such a fun and valued part of our program. We know he is going to make an incredible veterinarian and we can’t wait to see all the lives, animal and human, that he impacts along the way! 🐾
