Next week, our Lyric Theatre will be performing Mozart's The Impresario (Der Schauspieldirektor)! We hope that you will join us for one of our three performances.

Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 pm, Palmer Opera House in Cuba, NY
Friday, September 25 at 7:30 pm, CFA Recital Hall at Houghton University
Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 pm, David A. Howe Library in Wellsville, NY

There is free admission to the Cuba and Wellsville performances, but tickets are needed for the Houghton University performance.

Mozart’s The Impresario is a gloriously chaotic backstage romp where egos are enormous, tempers are short, and everyone is convinced they deserve top billing. While an Impresaria tries to survive running a theater (while dreaming of returning to a quiet life on her farm), two fiercely competitive sopranos make harmony nearly impossible - and the result is deliciously ridiculous. Packed with sparkling music, larger-than-life personalities, and plenty of theatrical mayhem, this charming comedy pokes fun at the very business of making opera. Come for Mozart; stay for the drama!

Join us for our first Artist Series concert of the 2026-2027 season, featuring Canadian-American pianist Benjamin Harding! This performance will take place Saturday, September 18 at 7:30 pm in Wesley Chapel.

Benjamin began his study of piano at the age of five, competing in a variety of festivals and competitions from an early age. He completed the performance requirements for the Associateship Degree of the Royal Conservatory of Music while in high school and has appeared on CBC Radio in his home province of New Brunswick. He has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong. An active chamber musician, Benjamin has recently collaborated with cellists Michael Katz and Kangho Lee, violinists Anthea Kreston, Benjamin Shute, David Kim, Christopher Wu and violist Clark Potter. His primary piano teachers include Juanita Spragg, Carol O’Neil, Samuel Hsu, Nina Svetlanova, Bradford Gowen, and Edna Golandsky.

Thanks to the generosity of our presenting sponsors, we are pleased to provide quality musical programming at no charge to the public.

Today was the opening chapel service here at Houghton University! 💜💛

Our very own Houghton Choir, under the direction of Dr. Black, performed Music Down In My Soul (arr. Moses Hogan) to kick off the service. Thanks to our students for an energetic performance that shares our enthusiasm for the 2026-2027 academic year! We are excited for what God has in store for each and every member of the GSoM.
