Our program emphasizes research and education in tissue engineering and biomaterials, biosensors and biomedical instrumentation, biomedical optics and imaging, and cardiovascular engineering. Our graduates are prepared to undertake research positions; to succeed in academia, government, and industry; and to grow into positions of leadership.

Michigan Tech Biomedical Engineering doctoral student, Sepideh Alimohammadi, presented an invited paper at the SPIE Photonics West Conference in San Francisco last week. The title of her presentation was "Hilbert-initialized hybrid phase retrieval for optical vortex analysis in speckle imaging". This work is part of her dissertation research on the biomedical applications of super-oscillatory features in randomly scattered electromagnetic fields.
