Hello fellow social distancers! Despite being hundreds of miles away from each other, REAC would still like to hold a meeting for March.

Michael McLaren from Kiewit will be presenting on a railroad bridge project over the Manistique River. Unlike the meetings we have done in the past, Michael will be entertaining a lengthy Q&A session with students, both before and after the presentation, in hopes to educate them about both Kiewit and the railroad industry as a whole.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 26th at 7pm Eastern. We will use Zoom as an online meeting platform. It is best if you set up a Zoom account, but if you don't have one you can still participate with an online link that will be sent out on Thursday.

We're back from break! For many of you, the semester is getting crazy busy already. Why not take a break from studying to hear from two railroading professionals as they talk about a project replacing a bridge after last spring's record floods in the Midwest. Happening Tomorrow Night! Our friends at WSP are sending us another one of their great people to talk about some of their fascinating projects. This time, Michael Studer will be talking about a PTC (Positive Train Control. Oops! Spoiler!) project with CN Railway, and another with Chicago's famous L trains.

Also, another important event is happening at this meeting; officer elections! Come join the E-Board and partake in some of the great opportunities that being an officer of an AREMA student chapter can offer. Or, if you don't want to run, you should still come and vote! THERE WILL BE FREE PIZZA.

The annual Santa Train at the Houghton County Historical Society in Lake Linden is comming next Saturday, Dec 7th from 1-4pm! REAC is looking for volunteers to help with this event. Volunteers will be helping with crowd control/flow, model railroad operations, bake sale, and more.

Rides to and from Lake Linden will be available.

Ok, so maybe some of these don't actually run on rails, but we'll forgive them. Our long time friend Dr. Bill Sproule will be presenting at this months meeting on these interesting train/bus/trolley contraptions called automated people movers. More specifically, he will be taking about an interesting project involving the people movers at Chicago's O'Hare Airport. You really don't want to miss this. Also, you don't want to miss the FREE TACOS! Next Monday at 7pm in Fisher 101. See you there!

We are pleased to announce that this year's fall field trip will be a two for one adventure! On Friday, Nov 15th, we will venture to Lundin Mining's Humboldt Mill for an awesome tour. On the way back, we will visit Pettibone's manufacturing facility in Baraga! The trip is free and we can provide class excusal forms (it will be an all-day event).
