🏛️ Public policy is everywhere—even when we don’t notice it.

It affects the safety of our roads, the quality of our air, drugs, food, and water, the services available in our communities, the technologies we use, and the rules organizations follow.

Michigan Tech’s 100% online Graduate Certificate in Public Policy helps professionals develop the critical-thinking, research, and analytical skills needed to understand complex problems and recommend practical, equitable solutions.

Even better, accelerated seven-week courses make it possible to complete the certificate more quickly. Many students finish in only two semesters.

This fall, take two courses back-to-back:

📘 SS 5318: Public Management
August 31–October 16

📋 SS 5350: Policy Analysis
October 19–December 11

The competencies developed in this certificate are valuable in government, nonprofits, advocacy, communications, regulatory affairs, community relations, corporate government affairs, and beyond.

Public policy shapes nearly everything. Build the skills to influence it for the better.

🚗 Internal combustion engines still matter. And they’re still evolving.

Michigan Technological University’s online Graduate Certificate in Internal Combustion Engine Systems helps engineers improve performance, reduce emissions, analyze engine data, and understand IC engines’ role in hybrid and lower-carbon systems.

Start this fall with Thermodynamics for Engine Systems, taught by Dr. Andrea Strzelec, an SAE Fellow and expert in combustion, fuels, emissions, and exhaust aftertreatment.

Fall 2026 begins August 31, so there’s still time to apply, enroll, and start building your IC engine expertise.

🏗️ What happens to infrastructure after the ribbon-cutting ceremony?

“The cameras pack up, the politicians go home, and the hype fades away. But that structure still has to survive, adapt, and function for decades.”

Michigan Tech’s online CEE 5390: Civil Asset Management course explores how engineers and infrastructure professionals can plan for the full lifecycle of bridges, water systems, airports, and other critical assets.

Students will learn about

✅ Lifecycle analysis
✅ Risk assessment
✅ Contingency planning
✅ Long-term infrastructure strategy

You'll get an expert instructor. The course is taught by Mark DeClercq, PE, AMP, who not only has decades of experience but also had boots on the ground during the Grand Rapids Flood event. Even better: Students who earn a grade of B qualify for an Institute of Asset Management certificate without taking a separate industry exam.

📅 Course begins August 31, 2026.

🏗️ Want to make smarter, more sustainable decisions about roads, bridges, buildings, and other critical infrastructure?

Michigan Tech’s online Civil Asset Management course is running in Fall 2026. And spots are still open!

Taught by Asset Management Professional Mark Declercq, PE, the for-credit course explores how organizations can evaluate infrastructure, manage risk, prioritize investments, and plan for an asset’s entire life cycle.

Declercq recently brought this expertise into Adam Wellstead and Kayla Gabehart's Michigan Tech’s undergraduate STEM Policy Lab Experience course. In this course, students examined the feasibility of a second Portage crossing and considered not only what new infrastructure might be needed, but also how it could be maintained and managed over time. 🌉

The CAM course begins August 31, 2026.
