Congratulations to Professor Mira Barreda for receiving an Essential Education award tonight.
Estela Mira Barreda and Holly Hassel were given the Taking Initiative award. Prof Mira Barreda has developed and led a pilot course this Spring in which MTU students have taught Spanish notions & culture to middle school students in Houghton Middle School.
She has also integrated a new EPortfolio platform to track and showcase students’ learning and experience progression throughout the semester.

Summer is almost here... and you have 2 choices for Spanish classes at MTU, during track A:

🌎 ✈ Start from scratch learning Spanish, with HU2291 (1st semester level), for people with no previous experience.

🎧💻HU3295: dive into an advanced class, Spanish through Translation, where you will learn about localization, language structures, Machine Translation and Translation about specialized texts, taking into account cultural differences.

Modern Languages is happy to host one more celebration of our Minor students, especially students graduating this Fall 2022 with a minor in French, German or Spanish.

Come join your fellow classmates and professors. We will bring food, some typical from our cultures. We are preparing games and songs to sing in a karaoke (psst! if you have a song of your choice, let your instructor know and we’ll work it out to add it to the list!).

We are looking forward to this day, to celebrate all the hard work you have put into your language acquisition.
