When split-second choices mean the difference between success and failure, how do expert decision-makers act without the luxury of time? That’s the core question driving Naturalistic Decision Making (NDM)—a field of research that studies how people navigate complex, high-stakes, real-world envir...

As we head into the 4th of July weekend, we want to wish you all a wonderful holiday!

Whether your plans involve a backyard BBQ, a trip to the beach, or simply enjoying an extra day of sleep, we hope you take this time to truly unplug and recharge.

While the holiday is often associated with big celebrations, it can also come with a lot of noise, sensory overload, or social pressure. As you enjoy the long weekend, we encourage you to prioritize your own well-being:

✨Protect your peace: If the loud fireworks or big crowds feel overwhelming, it is 100% okay to opt for a quiet night in.

✨Set boundaries: You aren't obligated to attend every gathering. Listen to what your mind and body need.

✨Check on your furry friends: (And maybe your neighbors, too!) The loud noises can be stressful for pets, so keep them cozy.

However you choose to spend the holiday, we hope it brings you some peace and relaxation!

We are honoring the incredible courage of Dr. John E. Fryer—the man who donned a disguise to change history. 🏳️‍🌈🎭

In 1972, at the American Psychiatric Association (APA) annual conference, a man took the stage wearing a rubber mask, a wig, and an oversized tuxedo. Speaking through a microphone that distorted his voice, he uttered words that would alter the course of LGBTQ+ history forever:

📢 “I am homosexual. I am a psychiatrist.”

Under the pseudonym 'Dr. Henry Anonymous,' Dr. Fryer risked his entire career to expose the truth. At the time, being openly gay meant losing your medical license and your livelihood.

His brave testimony, alongside the work of many other activists, forced the APA to officially remove homosexuality from its list of mental disorders in the DSM. This landmark change didn't just alter medicine—it stripped employers of a legal excuse to fire or refuse to hire Q***r people. 💼🚫

We honor him today for his courage to stand up in front of the panel, and world, when everyone else was scared to.
