For the past THREE days, the incredible teachers of Collins Elementary have been digging deep, collaborating, planning, creating, problem-solving, and preparing their hearts and classrooms for the littles they cannot wait to meet on September 8! 🥰📚

There’s something pretty special about watching a room full of educators pour so much thought, energy, creativity, and LOVE into a school year that hasn’t even started yet. They’ve been thinking about their kids—what they’ll need, how they’ll learn best, how to make them feel safe and successful, and how to make every day count. 💚🐾

Curriculum Camp may sound like a lot of work (because… it IS 😅), but behind every lesson, conversation, chart, sticky note, and carefully crafted plan is a teacher who cares deeply about kids.

Collins Elementary teachers—you are AMAZING. We are so lucky to have you, and our young Bobcats are even luckier! 💚🐾

📢 TODAY (August 21) is the last day for Schools of Choice Applications📢

This fall, HLCS is accepting limited Schools of Choice applications for grades K–4 and 6–12! 🎒

Applications must be submitted online only — visit hlcsk12.net/page/schools-of-choice to review the timeline and apply. No internet? Computers are available in each building office.

📅 Key dates:
✔️ Application window: August 3 – August 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
✔️ Status notifications: August 28
✔️ Enrollment deadline for accepted students: September 4

Nearly 50 students and 7 instructors filled the auditorium, rehearsal rooms, and football field on August 10th to kick off the marching band and Flag Corps season — now in year two under director Ryan Kuchek! Thanks to the Band Boosters, parents, volunteers, and Chartwells for keeping everyone fueled all week. Students learned new music and choreography, tackled team-building exercises, and made some serious noise getting ready for the season ahead. 🐾

🎉 What a WEEK at Collins Elementary Kinder Camp! 🎉

Our incoming Kindergarteners have been having the BEST time getting ready for the 2026–2027 school year! 🐾🍎 From yoga and mindful moments with our new friends, to dance parties, story time, and hands-on learning — these kiddos have been busy exploring, creating, and making new friends every step of the way!

This week’s fun included:
🌈 Mindfulness & movement with our AMAZING teachers
📖 Story time and read-alouds
💃 Dance and music
🔗 Counting and patterning with linking chains
🎨 Stencil art and creative drawing
🧠 Alphabet bingo
🟣 Playdough creativity time

It’s been such a joy watching our newest Bobcats build confidence, make friends, and fall in love with their new school! 💚

We can’t wait to see these smiling faces again this fall!
