The Association for Alumni and Friends of ASMSA (AAFA) is comprised of graduates, attendees, past faculty and staff of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts. To serve as a resource for current ASMSA students, providing mentorship and support as they develop academically and professionally;

The Foundation Fund awarded $11,600 in fellowships and awards to students this year. Those funds will provide our students with summer research and service opportunities that wouldn't be possible without gifts from you. What are you doing this summer? students have big plans. Here are just a few:
• conducting cancer and biomedical research at UAMS
• studying antibiotic resistance in real-world environments
• exploring water quality and ecosystem health
• developing new materials, chemical compounds, and engineering projects
• pursuing artistic work, music programs, and community-based projects all across the state.

Many of them are able to do so with help from you! Your gifts assist us to provide fellowships and grants that allow students to participate in these activities.

Learning doesn't stop during the summer for students. Internships, fellowships, research positions, community service — our students find ways to continue learning and to serve their communities during summer break. We're here to help them do that. The University of Arkansas System approved the selection of Dr. Derek McDowell as 's next Executive Director. McDowell, an Arkansas native, is expected to begin July 1. To read a release about his selection, visit asmsa.me/mcdowellexecdirector26.

We are saddened to share the news that Robert Bryant Jr., who served as a residential assistant at ASMSA from 1995 to 2000 and later returned to serve as the school's first Coordinator for Alumni and and Community Relations, has passed. We offer our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

A Remembrance Gathering will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, at Red and Blue Event Venue, 1415 West 7th Street, in Little Rock. Funeral services and visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at Greater 2nd Baptist Church, 5615 Geyer Springs Road, in Little Rock. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. You may view his obituary at asmsa.me/bryantobit.
