Check out this practice chart from one of our Alleghany County students! Only 10-20 minutes a day can make a HUGE difference for beginner students.

That student can now play probably 100 songs, and is learning how to read sheet music!

This is your reminder to encourage playing at home! 🏡🎶🎻

Request a concert during/after dinner, or ask them to show you what they learned in class today. Your excitement will help their confidence! 😁❤️

Ms. Madison here! 🎶👩🏻‍🏫🎻 Many parents ask how they can help me out… This is how!

Please help your beginner violin/viola student at home by checking in visually, and asking them to correct their “pizza wrist” and/or “pancake hand.” If they do not understand, or become frustrated, you may leave it and let me correct it during class.

We do not want to develop any negative feelings towards music, all students learn best at their own pace. ❤️

Many of you will be experiencing the following sounds for the next few weeks/month(s):

- Nails across a chalkboard
- Squeaky door hinge
- The same note over and over and over again

Y’all are just gonna have to bear with them and trust the process! 😂

Please encourage playing at home as much as possible, and let them know they are doing a good job. ❤️ Students should ideally play their instrument every day. The easiest and quickest way to improve is by practicing!

Fair warning: The Christmas music is starting soon, and you will hear Jingle Bells at least 100 times this year. 😁

A special afternoon of music is coming to Garth Newel! 🎹 Join Steve Wogaman (his first performance in Bath County!) on Sunday, August 9 at 4 PM for a benefit piano recital honoring Allegheny Mountain Radio and celebrating the generous gift of a new Steinway piano from Nancy Klein Maguire.

A wonderful way to support local music and community! 🎶

Join us Sunday, August 9 at 4 PM in Herter Hall for a very special benefit concert honoring Allegheny Mountain Radio (AMR) — an important voice and treasured part of our community.

The afternoon will also celebrate the generous gift of a new Steinway piano from Nancy Klein Maguire, with pianist Steve Wogaman giving his first Bath County piano recital on our new Steinway.
