Students in Ms. Bellamy’s class have been working on identifying traits that make an individual unique. They have been studying humpback whales in both science and ELA. Students were given the opportunity to collect evidence about one of four humpback whales and presented their findings to other groups to see similarities and differences between these organisms. They did a great job using their communication and research skills during this activity. Way to go!! 🐋

Mrs. West first grade class extended their learning by completing the Peel the Fruit Visible Thinking Routine. They used the book from Arts and Letters to complete this routine. Also, they tied it in with their Who We Are unit and wrote about their own goals. They discussed how they will feel when they accomplish them just like the characters!!

In Ms. Emerson’s class, students have been connecting their Unit of Inquiry, Who We Are, with their writing. We are studying organisms and how they solve problems differently. In Arts and Letters, students have been studying how to write an essay. They will write about the story of “Amos and Boris”, by William Steig. Their writing prompt asked students to write about how Amos (an organism) explores the sea. They discovered different ways organisms solved problems differently throughout the story and were able to connect it to real life situations where the students have solved the same problem differently. Way to be IB learners! 🖤💛🎉
