✨GALAXIES, STARS, & LIGHT—OH MY! Summer STEAM Camp Day 4 at Horton Elementary was filled with dazzling discoveries as our young astronauts explored the wonders of galaxies, stars, constellations, and light!

Yesterday campers became space engineers and astronomers as they designed and built their own telescopes, created beautiful galaxies in a jar, and used their creativity to form and name their very own constellations. We were also excited to welcome another NASA Solar System Ambassador, who guided students through an exciting Moon Lander Challenge. To top off the day, our explorers enjoyed making delicious fruit and yogurt galaxies, combining healthy foods with a little cosmic creativity!

Day 4 was packed with hands-on learning, teamwork, creativity, and plenty of stellar fun as our campers continued their journey through the cosmos. We can't wait to see where our next adventure takes us!

Stay tuned as our Summer STEAM Camp mission continues!

🌟 The Future of Education is Bright!🌟

This week, a group of rising high school seniors gathered at Emporia State University for the Kansas Future Teacher Academy.

Horton High School was proudly represented by **Deanna Roybal**, who spent the week exploring the world of education through sessions focused on leadership, impact, reflection, and innovative teaching practices. Throughout the academy, students gained valuable insights into the profession while connecting with fellow future educators from across Kansas.

Participants had the opportunity to learn from outstanding educational leaders, including Dr. Jake Steel, Kansas' incoming education commissioner, and Tabatha Rosproy, the 2020 Kansas and National Teacher of the Year.

We are proud of Deanna for representing HHS and investing in a future dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students. The future of education is in good hands! 🍎📚

🪐 ADVENTURE THROUGH THE SOLAR SYSTEM! Summer STEAM Camp Day 3 at Horton Elementary took our young explorers on an exciting journey through the planets!

Today campers became planetary scientists as they created their own paper solar systems, compared the incredible distances between planets, and used their imaginations to design and build their very own unique planets complete with special features . Our astronauts also enjoyed making healthy and delicious rocket fruit kabobs while learning how nutritious foods help fuel explorers for their missions. The highlight of the day was a special visit from a Solar System Ambassador with NASA, who shared fascinating information about our solar system and what it would be like to visit a planet!

Day 3 was filled with creativity, exploration, hands-on learning, and plenty of excitement as our campers continued their mission through space. We can't wait to see what adventures await our astronauts next!

Stay tuned as our Summer STEAM Camp journey continues!

🌙 TO THE MOON! Summer STEAM Camp Day 2 at Horton Elementary was a lunar adventure filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and fun! 🌙

Today our young astronauts explored Earth's closest neighbor—the Moon! Campers engineered and tested their own moon landers, discovered the eight phases of the moon using Oreo cookies, created detailed moon maps, and even made edible moon rocks that were as delicious as they were fun to create. Students also had the opportunity to unleash their creativity during a special art activity with our traveling art teacher.

Day 2 was packed with exploration, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork as we continued our journey through space. Our astronauts are learning that every mission requires curiosity, perseverance, and imagination!

Stay tuned as our Summer STEAM Camp crew continues their exciting adventure through the cosmos!
