8 years ago tonight I stood and watched the business that I built “from the ground up” ~burn to the ground🔥. Hooray for Books was in some ways like another baby I birthed. Over 13 years it grew from 1/2 day kindergarten to classes for 2-10 YO, summer camps, cooking classes and birthday parties. I had 3 FT teachers, 5 locations over the years in Hopkinton and Medfield and Southboro, and many HS assistants. My slogan was “Creative classes where kids look, cook & devour good books!”
I created over 350 lessons that all had a theme, a cooking activity, reading games and a large cup of humor.

When a fire burned down the facility I went into survival mode. This was my business and sole stream of income. My husband was working FT AND running for US Congress. And we were both training for the Boston Marathon.
The thought of managing 5 kids, rebuilding the space and supporting him was just too overwhelming. While the classroom was destroyed- My lessons were all in plastic bins and were safe. I packed them up and put them in storage- to deal with at some point.....
Well... it’s now been 8 years.

I had a session with an amazing ENERGY healer!
I thought we were going to talk about a biz issue but man.... a whole lot of other stuff came tumbling out. She helped me realize that Hooray for Books needs a future. It’s too good to be sitting in storage. It needs a next chapter with others at the helm!

I’m putting it out to the universe and my network to help me manifest a “next chapter” for this well loved business. Maybe a person. Maybe a school. Maybe a group of moms. Maybe a teacher who left to have kids and wants something to call her own. Maybe some recent grads who are open to a different classroom experience.
Take it Online? Subscription box lessons? New owners? Birthday parties or lessons on the go?
I’m Open to any and all ideas and connections to have someone else RE launch this with my help. ❤️🌟👏🏼👩🏼‍🍳💥
The work has all been done - who do you know that has a passion for kids and is looking for something innovative? Women are always great at thinking/sharing so I hope you’ll do some on my behalf!

‼️”Don’t do it! It’s a SCAM!!! ‼️

When my Hooray for Books site burned 🔥 down- I didn’t know what to do! Rebuild? Find a new space and start over? I had 5 kids and a husband campaigning for Congress. It all seemed overwhelming. Until a friend said
“You’d be great in my biz~ you should check it out!” I honestly knew nothing about social selling/ direct sales. It was a new biz model to me. But what I saw... made sense!

If I had listened to that complete NONSENSE about 1 of smartest biz models out there: 👇🏻

-I would have missed out on 9 FREE trips. ✈️
-I wouldn’t know so many of my friends. 👯‍♀️
-I wouldn’t have my happy place☀️🏚👙⛱
-I wouldn’t have retirement accounts. 💵
-I would still be working 50-60 hr weeks. 😓
-I would still be in debt. 🕳
-I wouldn’t know “time freedom”. ⏰
-I wouldn’t know the power of residual income. 🗓
-I wouldn’t have grown and pushed past my comfort zone. 🌱
-I wouldn’t know the excitement of hitting big goals. 🎉
-I wouldn’t know what it feels like to get messages of gratitude from helping people change THEIR lives.🥰

I said no to this for 3 MONTHS!! 🙅🏻‍♀️
I was clueless any of this was possible!!!
Hint: People don’t usually see the true possibilities until AFTER they’ve made the leap. 🐰

I am thankful every single day for that person who said “You know what Mary- you’d be really great in my biz”.
Who? Me? Wait? What? Hmmm....

You could be saying “no” to everything you’ve been praying for. Take it from me, I was that girl. 💕

Hey everyone. I know many of you locally have run the Timlin Race for ALS in June. The race organizer/founder Abbie Rosenberg is a dear friend and started the Healthcare Collaborative in Hopkinton. In our current times I’m sharing this video. It’s for parents eyes. As a mom of 5 I am mad, sad, appalled and more about what’s going on in our country. If it helps one person think before they speak OR another to not tolerate hateful speech- it was worth it.
