Not every school offers National History Day, which means a lot of interested students never get the chance. The MCGT CHOICES Chapter is looking at changing that.

History Day is a year long research project for grades 6 through 12. Students pick a topic tied to an annual theme and present it as a research paper, exhibit, documentary, performance, or website. We are exploring whether CHOICES should host its own February showcase so students have a place to take part.

Competing is not required. Some families may just want resources and field trips to support their history studies, and that counts too. Younger siblings cannot compete, but they are welcome at the showcase and field trips.

Gifted kids are often bewildering – this doesn’t change when they grow up. In this informal, six-session online conversation series, parents and caregivers gather with others who are also exploring territory parenting books don’t cover. All sessions are guided by experienced facilitators, but the heart of the group is the parents and caregivers themselves. You’ll have space to ask questions, share experiences, and listen to each other.

Join MCGT for our first CHAT Night of the school year: Gifted 101

Thursday, September 24, 7:00-8:30pm CST via Zoom.
CHAT Nights are FREE and Open to All - no registration required.

Join MCGT for an informal and informative conversations about giftedness with MCGT Board President and owner of Cottonwood Center, Mary Wandrei.

What is a CHAT Night? CHAT (Connect. Help. Advocate. Talk.) Nights are dedicated to informally connecting parents of gifted children, helping them find other parents in similar situations with an ear to listen, experiences to share, and solutions to offer. Each CHAT Night starts with a brief (10-15 minutes) presentation by a facilitator on a designated topic of interest followed by small group discussion. The format of CHAT Nights is intended to be casual, rather than structured. Due to the nature of CHAT nights, they are not recorded.
