Our 50 year class reunion is coming up in 2028 and your class reunion committee will be ready!!! The Class of 1978 is having a pork butt/shoulder fundraiser to raise money for our 50th reunion!!! The butts will be cooked and ready for pick up in Prince George on FRIDAY, MAY 10, around 4:00 pm.
(Yes, that’s Mother’s Day weekend…what a great way to give the Mom in your house a break from cooking!!!)

The Hopewell High School, Class of 1978, has lost another classmate. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doug and the Sylvester/Irving families.

Mrs. Teresa Sylvester Irving, age 63 of Victoria, died Friday October 27, 2023. Mrs. Irving retired from the Hopewell Public School System where she served as an administrative assistant for many years. Mrs. Irving is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gene Douglas Irving, a son, Jeremy Irving (Crystal), and a daughter Sarah Irving both of Maryland; a brother James 'Jimmy' Sylvester (Gayle) of Matoaca, Va, a sister Linda Kofron (Bill) of Matoaca,Va. and 7 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents James and Sarah Sylvester. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in Merchant's Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George, VA. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Irving Family.

Looking forward to seeing lots of our classmates on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2023, at the VFW to celebrate our 45th reunion!! Almost 100 folks have sent their money in already!! Fun times to be had!! Tickets are $30 per person in ADVANCE; $50 per person if you pay at the door. Includes a live band, “Bustin Loose”, food and beverages! Come on…join us!!

The Hopewell High School Class of 1978 Reunion Committee will be selling pork butts, cooked and ready to eat from Nanny’s Restaurant in Petersburg, starting in mid-April. The butts will be cooked and ready for distribution on Saturday, May 13, 2023. (This will be a great meal for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14!)
If you are interested in purchasing a butt, which will need to be paid for in advance, please leave a note here and someone will get in touch with you. The butts will sell for $35 each and will weigh between seven and 10 pounds.
We will use the funds from this sale to help offset the cost of our tickets for our upcoming 45th class reunion on October 21, 2023. Thank you!
