The story behind Clare de Luna 🌙💕
I get asked all the time how Clare de Luna started, and it's a story close to my heart...and today seemed like a good day to share.
I'm Joany - a nurse, end-of-life coach, mom, bonus mom, and Meme. In 2020, while working ICU during the pandemic, I was drowning in stress and needed an outlet. Years before, a wonderful friend had taught me to milk her goats and make soap. I'd loved how peaceful it was but kept putting it off.
Finally, I couldn't wait anymore. I needed that calm, that creativity. So I started making soap, and Clare de Luna was born.
The name means everything to me. Clare honors my firstborn granddaughter, who would have been 11 years old today, yet we heartbreakingly lost at just 8 days old.
She was and always will be the greatest love of my life. I combined her name with "de Luna" - Spanish for "of the moon" - because whenever I look at the moon, I see her shining bright in Heaven, bringing light to even the darkest nights.
For the past 5 years, I've been bringing Clare de Luna to craft shows across the Hudson Valley. What started as my stress relief has become a way to honor her memory, care for others, and create something beautiful.
Every product I make carries intention, love, and the reminder that there's always light - even in our hardest moments.
