Extension beef cattle specialist, Dr. Ally Krumsiek, is seeking input regarding a potential new program. We would appreciate you taking the time to complete a survey to help the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture explore the development of a state-wide Heifer Development Program to help Arkansas cow-calf producers raise higher-quality, reproductively sound replacement heifers. Your responses will directly shape program design, including services offered, facility investment, and pricing.

‼️Hempstead County Ag Producers: It is IMPERATIVE that you submit a CMOR (Condition Monitoring Observer Report) that reflects the current conditions of your operation. The U.S. Drought Monitor's most recent release shows us as Abnormally Dry to Moderate Drought, yet, most folks have not dealt with such formidable conditions in years. This is what the USDA will use to make determinations on drought assistance, so don't assume your neighbor is making a report. We need an accurate representation of our county.

🔹Report your pastures, ponds, livestock impacts, hay feeding, stressed trees and other conditions. Include photos if you can.

You can use the Condition Monitoring Observer Reports (CMOR) system to report drought-related conditions and impacts within the U.S. and its territories. A quick observation from the okra demo with Donnia Cox. The Jambalaya 2.0 continues to produce while the Clemson spineless and Jade have fallen off. The Jambalaya 2.0 plants are still looking great, possibly attributed to greater heat tolerance in this variety as they are all receiving consistent irrigation.

Consider holding off pulling soil samples while our drought conditions persist. We want your samples to best represent the composition of your soil and moisture is a factor in accuracy, not to mention the difficulty you may have reaching the proper depth of 4" for lawns, pastures, and hay fields and 6" for gardens and landscapes.
