Parents/Guardians
This week we will learning about families. We are sending a flyer home “Our Family is Special” with some ideas that you can do at home to join us in teaching this unit. We will also be singing the following songs and reading these books. Finally, we will be making a classroom family tree. All of our children are invited to add a picture of their family to the tree to share with the class. We need you for this one! You can send a family photo through messenger on our page, email it to us ([email protected]) or text it to me (870 949-0269). We are also hoping to make a favorite cereal book. Could you send the front of your child’s favorite cereal box? We will join them together to make a book and read it in class. Other books we will be reading are: Thank you!

Grandma’s Glasses
Here are Grandma’s glasses, (fingers around eyes)
Here is Grandma’s hat, (hands on head)
This is the way she folds her hands, (fold hands)
And lays them in her lap. (folds hands in lap)
Here are Grandpa’s glasses, (larger glasses)
Here is Grandpa’s hat, (larger hat)
This is the way he folds his arms, (fold arms across chest)
Just like that. (with emphasis)

Five Little Babies (Hold up appropriate number of fingers and make motions to suit the words)
One little baby Rocking in a tree. (rock back and forth)
Two little babies Splashing in the sea. (move your arms like your swimming)
Three little babies Crawling on the floor. (act like your crawling)
Four little babies Banging on the door.(pretend to knock on an invisible door)
Five little babies Playing hide and seek. (hold your hand over your eyes like peek a boo)
Keep your eyes closed tight, now, Until I say…..PEEK! (move your hands off of your eyes when you say peek. Say peek loud and excited)
