We are a K-5 elementary school in Hoover, Alabama. Harriette W. It had sixteen classrooms for grades one through seven.
Gwin Elementary School, named for a Jefferson County Board of Education member, opened in January 1976. In 1992, an addition doubled the size of the school and in 2000 the front of the building was remodeled. We currently have an approximate enrollment of 600 students. In addition to offering state and district curriculum, we encourage students to explore their interest through clubs and organizat

Today our 5th graders took their final walk through the halls of Gwin, proudly showing whether they’ve been here for 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, or even just 1 special year. 💙 Each number tells a story filled with friendships, memories, growth, and so many moments that made Gwin feel like home.
Now it’s time to trade school days for sunshine, sleeping in, pool days, and summer adventures! ☀️🎉 We are so proud of this incredible group and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in middle school.

From first-day nerves to fifth-grade memories, this class has grown in so many ways. As they took their final walk through the halls, there were smiles, hugs, cheers, and maybe a few tears.
Elementary school may be ending, but their next adventure is just beginning. Middle school, here they come! ✨📚

Our students, faculty, and staff celebrated the end of a great school year today! From dancing with friends to hugging teachers, it was a day full of love!
