Gwin Elementary School

Gwin Elementary School We are a K-5 elementary school in Hoover, Alabama. Harriette W. It had sixteen classrooms for grades one through seven.

Gwin Elementary School, named for a Jefferson County Board of Education member, opened in January 1976. In 1992, an addition doubled the size of the school and in 2000 the front of the building was remodeled. We currently have an approximate enrollment of 600 students. In addition to offering state and district curriculum, we encourage students to explore their interest through clubs and organizations. These clubs offer hands on experiences for all students including Gwin Ovations Choir, Garden Club, Dance Club, and opportunities to explore other cultures.

Ahoy, Mateys! ☠️🏴‍☠️
Our 5th graders had a swashbuckling good time celebrating National Talk Like a Pirate Day! From pirate-themed learning activities to teamwork challenges and plenty of “Arrr’s” throughout the day, students sailed through a day full of fun, creativity, and learning.
We loved seeing our pirates-in-training work together, solve challenges, and make memories along the way. It was a treasure-filled Friday in 5th grade! ⚓️🦜💰

🟡🟣🔵International Dot Day🔴🟢🟠

This week, Ms. Feagin and Mrs. Gregg celebrated Dot Day with various activities in their classrooms! Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration! It is inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. We love seeing our students make their mark! 🤩
