SPHS Ambassadors are hosting two tours of the school this summer. The tours are intended for prospective students and families as well as those new to SPHS.

(The incoming freshmen students will get a tour when they come for Camp Jag.)

Help us to congratulate the SP Scholars Bowl team! They finished in the State Final Four, earning third place overall. They match seven other Spain Park teams in the past 16 years to make it to that elite level. Congrats SP Scholars Bowl!

Meet Rachael and Caleb Matherson! Ms. Matherson has been teaching and coaching dance at Spain Park since 2002. Many remember when her husband, Jason, proposed to her during halftime of a football game in 2003. In her career, Ms. Matherson's teams have won 5 Dance Steam State Championship Titles, including the 2021 Spirit Show Down National Championship. In recent years, she is proud to have established Glitter Girls which is a youth dance program with Hoover Rec.

Of her four sons, she has just one at SP this year: Caleb. Caleb is a freshman and plays on the SP football team. He is also a member of the SP Law Academy. Luke and Grant will be here before we know it! Luke is in 6th grade at Berry. He plays football and basketball. Grant is in 2nd grade at Greystone and plays flag football, basketball and baseball. In 2025, Ms. Matherson’s oldest son, Brayden, graduated from SP. He has the 2nd highest leading tackles in school history and was on the 2025 All Region Football Team. He is currently playing football for the University of West Alabama.

This is the Spain Park Families Network- a project that highlights the unique connections within SPHS. It features SP faculty and staff and their own family members who are part of our school community. Spain Park means so much to those who choose to learn and work alongside the people they love. 💙

This is the last Spain Park Families Network for the school year! Thank you to all the SP families cooperating with me! I hope our community has enjoyed this project!! We plan to continue it next year as new folks join us on campus.

SPHS Spanish teacher Chrissy Roe was selected as the recipient of the Bryan Phillips “Agent of Change” Award from the Hoover City Schools Technology Department. This award recognizes educators in our district who transform classrooms through technology, inspire others, and lead with purpose. WELL-DESERVED!
