Hoover High School Band

Some of our Hoover Band staff at Institute this morning for their first official day of the new school year (of course we know they’ve been working hard for our students for weeks now!) Wishing everyone a great year ahead!

Competition Band Camp is officially underway! This week, our students jumped into learning music for the show and began working on drill for the first few acts. Tomorrow, they move into the second week of Competition Band Camp, and will continue to build on all that they've already accomplished.

A huge thank you to all of our amazing instructors for pouring into these students and helping them become their best. They are working hard, and we know all of this effort will pay off when competition season arrives!

What an incredible start to the 2026 marching season!

Last week we kicked off band camp with our Rookie Marching Clinic! Student leadership and staff helped our new members learn the fundamentals of marching, how to read drill sheets, and began music sectionals. We are so excited to welcome 113 new freshman musicians to our band family this year!

On Tuesday, our returning band members joined the rookies, and the full band got to work setting drill and rehearsing music for this year's halftime show. It has been an exciting week filled with learning, teamwork, and lots of hard work under the summer sun.

We're incredibly proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our students have shown all week. This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see everything this talented group accomplishes this season!

As we kick off band camp tomorrow with our Rookie Marching Clinic, we want to take a moment to recognize the dedication and hard work many of our students have already shown this summer.

In June, our Drum Majors attended the Drum Major Institute at the Music for All Summer Camp in Muncie, Indiana. While there, they strengthened their conducting techniques and developed valuable leadership skills that they are ready to bring back and put into action this season.

Also in June, the Buccannettes attended UDA Camp at Auburn University, where they refined their dance technique, built strong team connections, and earned multiple awards. Their accomplishments are an exciting preview of what’s ahead this year.

We are proud of the commitment these students have demonstrated and can’t wait to see all that this season will bring. We are looking forward to an incredible year!
