April is a busy time for our performing arts students! The recent Hoover Band Spring Concerts and Rhythmfest performances were wonderful showcases of the hard work put in and the growth our students musicians have accomplished over the school year.

This weekend you can hear more of our talented performers being showcased in the pit ensemble of Hairspray the Musical at Hoover High School Thurs, Fri, and Sat evenings and Sat afternoon as well as at the free ASYO Spring Concert at Alys Stephens Center on Saturday at 2pm. We our proud that our students give back their love of music to their community.

Congratulations to our 2026-27 drum majors! So proud of everyone who auditioned this year!

April is Jazz Appreciation Month. The Hoover jazz bands have been celebrating hard:

Wycliffe Gordon joined all three of our ensembles in their Spring “Just Jazz” concert for a special evening of music this past Tuesday.

Thursday all three bands participated in our state’s Jazz Music Performance Assessment earning superior ratings!

Hoover’s First Edition is directed by Sallie Vines White, Hoover Jam is directed by Matthew Cicero, and JB3 is directed by Ryan Fitchpatrick.

So proud! What a way to end the season!

Bring home your very own keepsake Hoover Band Uniform jacket!

The 2015-2025 Hoover Band Uniform Keepsake jacket is for sale on My School Fees under the band section of the public fees. Each purchase of $75 will include a jacket, garment bag, gauntlets, an “H”, and a shako with acrylic star.

If there is a specific uniform number or formal jacket you would like to request, the uniform team will do their best to honor that. Once jackets are ready, purchasers will be contacted by e-mail for pick-up.

All jackets being sold are considered performance quality. However, this retired Hoover Band Uniform was in active use for roughly ten years. That’s 100+ regular season football games, over 30 post-season play-offs, countless marching competitions, parades and concerts. They have been worn at Disney World and Universal Studios, Washington DC, Chicago, New York and more. With such a pedigreed history, expect pieces to show some normal wear and tear.
