Children who have a strong sense of respect for themselves are more likely to be confident, less likely to be the victim or perpetrator of bullying, take better care of themselves, and are more willing to try new things without fear of failure or “looking bad.”🥋

Self-respect means that we appreciate ourselves and see our own worth! We don’t have to be perfect in order to have self-respect. In fact, self-respect means we can look at where we need to improve, without thinking less of ourselves. This month at the Okinawan School of Karate, we are challenging our students to focus on a few techniques to improve, and then to compliment themselves for their hard work!
