Childcare is so much MORE than just babysitting. Some childcare workers have gone to post secondary to get their certificate in the early childhood field to do their job.
We lesson plan
We document
We write learning stories
We wipe noses
Change diapers
Feed them
Keep track of incidents
We wipe tears
We snuggle
We give lots of hugs and kiss booboos better
We console sad children when they are missing mom and dad, we distract them with toys or books
We rock them to sleep and rub their backs
We cuddle them when they aren’t feeling well and take care of them until mom and dad pick them up from daycare sick
We read and sing songs and do silly dances
We clean and sanitize
We do crafts, we teach them the ABCs and colours and sharing and being kind etc
We nurture and love all the children in our classes for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. We build bonds and relationships with the children in our care and their parents.
We come home drained and tired, ready for bed to wake up and repeat.
Sometimes burnout happens, but we always come back around eventually.
Being greeted with smiles and hugs from tiny humans is the best feeling ever.
Childcare is such a stressful, hard and exhausting job but it’s rewarding
I know there’s nothing I rather be doing at the end of each day 🫶🏼
