📚Happy First Week of School, KTJUSD!📚

We hope everyone had a great first week back! 🎉 As we wrap up the first week of the new school year, we wanted to look back at some of the fun from our 30-day Expanded Learning Summer Program!

A huge thank you to our amazing Expanded Learning staff, community partners, tribal programs, and cultural mentors who made this summer so special for our students.

🧡 KTJUSD Indian Education Director Taihvoochi brought meaningful cultural experiences through regalia making, field trips, and hands-on activities that helped students connect with culture.

💙 Hoopa Tribal Neighborhood Facilities welcomed us throughout the summer for some much-loved pool days!

🤎 Hoopa Tribal Museum provided weaving and acorn cracking with Cheriku, along with tie-dye activities with Cheriku and Raphly. Silis led regalia and language education, cultural field trips to Mike’s Point, Hostler Field, and Waterdog Lake, and song/singing education with special guests Philly and Kiss.

💚 Yurok Tribe Cultural Mentor Keg Super mentored our young men through traditional teachings and activities including eeling, necklace making, sticks, bows and arrows, traditional foods, gathering, and more.

🌿 Save California Salmon brought engaging environmental and cultural learning focused on salmon, our waterways, ecosystems, and protecting our natural resources.

🌱 Klamath-Trinity Resource Conservation District (KTRCD) brought fun, hands-on workshops including berry lemonade, fresh garden salads, sun tea, and more!

Our summer was full of culture, learning, laughter, and FUN! We are incredibly thankful for everyone who shared their time, knowledge, and energy with our students. ❤️

Now that the school year is officially underway, we’re excited to carry that energy forward and continue providing even more Expanded Learning opportunities throughout the year! 📚✨

🎉 Summer Program Reminder! ☀️

We're excited to welcome California Adventure Camps back this week as they help us kick off our Summer Program! Students will enjoy an action-packed week filled with skateboarding, baseball, basketball, filmmaking, and art! 🛹⚾🏀🎬🎨

To ensure everyone can safely participate in all activities, please send your child wearing closed-toe tennis shoes and socks each day. Unfortunately, Crocs, sandals, and other open-toed shoes make it difficult for students to participate in many of the activities.

Thank you for helping us make this an exciting, fun, and safe week for all of our students! We can't wait to get started! 😊

🌞 Today is the first day of our Expanded Learning Summer Program! 🎉

We are so excited to welcome all of our students for a fun-filled summer of learning, enrichment, and adventure!

A reminder that all students who submitted an application have been accepted into the program. At this time, our program is full and has reached capacity. Any new applications received will be placed on a waiting list and families will be contacted if a spot becomes available.

Thank you for your overwhelming support and understanding. We can’t wait to kick off an amazing summer with our students! ☀️📚🎨🏀

📢 Summer School Program Reminder! 📢

Our Summer School Program begins June 29th and will be held at Hoopa Elementary.

🕗 Drop-Off: 7:45 AM – 8:30 AM at the Hoopa Elementary Cafeteria.
🕔 Pick-Up: 5:15 PM

Students who submitted an application and met the deadline have been enrolled in the program.

A message will be sent out through our school communication system. Please be on the lookout for additional information and updates.

Join us for a fun community event at Orleans Elementary School! Bring your bike out for repairs, tune-ups, or just come enjoy the day with us. Trained bike mechanics will be on site to help, and tools/workspace will also be available for anyone who wants to work on their own bike.

KTJUSD’s first-ever Spring Break Camp was a huge success! 🎉
In partnership with California Adventure Camps, we served 124 students over 4 days, offering hands-on learning, creativity, and fun.

Students worked with amazing professionals in art, culinary, outdoor survival, jiu-jitsu, and even tackled a Ninja Warrior course—building confidence, skills, and friendships along the way.

A special highlight was our Community Night, bringing together ~200 community members to enjoy dinner, & family time on the Ninja Warrior Course!

We’re so grateful to our staff, partners, and community for making this unforgettable experience possible—and we’re excited for future expanded learning events for our kids!
