The Filipino Association of University Women (FAUW), 3 Point Scholarship Hawaii, and Reiyukai America invited Hawaii K8 students to participate in their first annual ‘Ohana Art Contest aspiring to promote stronger 'Ohana that can affect stronger communities! Participants were encouraged to draw an artwork that portrays their experiences with his/her ‘ohana along with a paragraph describing the artwork. By November 2nd, which was the due date of submission, a total of 75 arts were submitted to the Organizing Committee. There were two divisions: K-5 and 6-8.
A group of distinguished judges had selected the following winners:
K-5 Division
1st: Lashelle Macpherson / Kanoelani Elementary
2nd: Evan Gatdula / Kanoelani Elementary
3rd: Aleigh-Rose Young / Kanoelani Elementary
Runner-Up: Emery Wukong / Kanoelani Elementary
6-8 Division
1st: Keolamaikai Young / Waialua High and Intermediate
2nd: Jena Belle De Los Reyes / Kapolei Middle
3rd: Justin Keiser Monroy / Waialua High and Intermediate
Runner-Up: Tyrus Lopes / Waialua High and Intermediate.
Besides the above eight, the Organizing Committee had selected Gabriel Pineda / Kanoelani Elementary to award the "Organizer's Favorite" prize.
