was chartered on April 30, 1983. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose it to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. Today, Delta Sigma Sorority Incorporated has chartered 1,060 chapters worldwide and has initiated more than 350,000 members since its founding. We have also awarded more $56K in scholarships and grants. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Physical and Mental Health, Educational Development, Political Awareness and Involvement, and International Awareness and Involvement.
