Music Students, Alum, Friends and Parents,
I’m receiving questions, daily, from teachers and parents about the HS Musical. Here is a brief blurb to answer any questions you may have and to give you info to answer questions you may hear. (All Covid restrictions and protocols are being followed including masking, distance and limited numbers.) I did not include that in the blurb below because I was trying to actually write something this year that did not include the words “Pandemic” or “Covid”. …but I give you that info anyways in case someone asks :)
HS SPRING MUSICAL 2021 : HF-L HS is doing a Cabaret style Review this year including 30 songs from musicals throughout the past 50 years. Students were auditioned in December, rehearsed in January, audio recorded in Jan/Feb (in the HS Music rooms converted into various size recording studio spaces), costumed and staged in February, video recording in Feb/March to be released as a full length musical video in mid to late April to the students, families and community. Inside HF-L, received in the mail a couple weeks ago, has a great writeup about the High School Musical; I encourage everyone to check it out as it includes student impressions as well as details and rationale.
The release date will be widely publicized when it is known. The process is so new to all of us that we are letting it take the time it needs to be great. Having already audio recorded 27 numbers and video recorded 14, with 7 more this weekend, I can't express how excited I am to have everyone see the finished product. The kids sound amazing, the acting is great, the video coverage possible is dynamic and the editing is a creative's paradise!
If you want to help:
Catherine Torregiano is leading the charge on a fundraiser for the Drama Club similar to the basket raffles held at previous shows. This year it will be virtual!
Attached is a flyer link about the fundraiser and a request for your support.
