Belton - Honea Path Farmers, Agribusiness, and FFA Alumni Chapter

Join us for our November meeting on Tuesday, November 21st at 6:00 pm. This meeting will take place at Belton - Honea Path High School in Mr. Wilson's classroom (Room 508).

This month's meeting topic is beef cattle production strategies and Ms. Lindsey Craig of Clemson Extension will lead this discussion.

As always, we will provide dinner. We will provide a dinner consisting of ham, green beans, and macaroni. The cost for this meal will be $10 / person.

Join us for our October FAA meeting on Tuesday, October 10th at 6:00 pm. This month’s meeting will take place at the BHP Livestock Barn which is located between the BHP Greenhouse and BHP Baseball field.

This month’s speaker will be Mr. Ben Woody, BHP Agricultural Mechanics teacher. With years of experiencing working in the forestry industry prior to teaching, he will be speaking on chainsaw operation and safety. This will be a hands - on meeting so come dressed appropriately.

Yesterday evening, we were honored to have Mr. Jay Copelan come speak to our group about STEC Equipment Co. and all they had to offer in the turf and agricultural machinery sectors.

We thank him for his time spent meeting with our FAA group!

Our next scheduled meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 10th. Our very own, Mr. Ben Woody will be presenting on chainsaw safety at the next meeting. Registration information will be available next week.

One last reminder about our FAA and FFA Alumni meeting tomorrow night at 6:00 pm. Mr. Copeland from STEC Equipment Co. will be our guest speaker. This meeting will take place in Mr. Wilson’s classroom.

Join us for our first meeting of the 2023 - 2024 school year on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:00 pm next week! This meeting will take place in Mr. Wilson’s classroom (Room 505). The classroom is located in the Ag Wing which is located right behind the BHP Tennis Courts.

Our guest speaker will be Mr. Jay Copelan. He is a former ag teacher of over 30 years who is now enjoying a successful second career as a Kioti Tractor Specialist for STEC Equipment Co. in Anderson, SC. He will have some equipment to demo at this meeting.

We enjoyed this year’s Summer Farm Tour hosted by the Laurens County FAA group!

We made stops at the following farms and agribusinesses: Bull Hill Ranch, Ghost Creek Gourd, Hollow Oak Brahmans, Dale Taylor Tree Farm, Martin’s Nursery & Greenhouse, Fox Pipe Farm, and Dale Taylor’s Tree Farm.

It was great to see all of the amazing agricultural enterprises in operation within Laurens County!

We present to you…the 2023 - 2024 meeting schedule for the local FAA group.

Are you were a former FFA member?

Do you have students who were or are currently enrolled in the BHP middle and high school agricultural education programs?

Have a general interest in agriculture and want to participate in monthly workshops hosted by guest speakers from the agricultural field?

If your answer is yes to any of the above, we’d love to have you come join us for one of our monthly chapter meetings.

We are partnering with our local FFA chapter to create a sponsorship opportunity for our graduating students who wish to pursue their post - secondary education in an agriculture or manufacturing - related field.

This year, our group will be selling raffle tickets for a Henry Lever Action .22 Rifle. Tickets are $5 / each. All proceeds will go towards the scholarship program.

The winner will be selected at the BHP FFA Banquet on Thursday, May 11th. You do NOT have to be present to win. However, you must be 18 years old or older to purchase a ticket.

This Thursday, March 16th, we will be blessed to have BHP alumnus and Clemson Extension Specialist, Zack Snipes speak with our FAA group virtually. He will be speaking on spring garden preparation and host an open - discussion forum about general gardening tips.

We will also provide a meal for all attendees. It is $10 / guest.

Come out and join us this Thursday at BHP if you are interested in learning how to get your spring gardens ready to go or have any other questions pertaining to gardening!
