Dr. David Kerns and Greg Wilson with Texas A&M Entomology shared valuable insights into the emergency exemption for Centric 40WG for pasture mealybug treatment and best practices for its use with Farm Progress Daily.

“It does not mean ‘spray every yellow pasture,”’ Wilson said. “It means that if mealybugs are easily found with plant injury, there is now a labeled option that research has shown will work if it is applied correctly.”

Pasture Mealybug is here and causing damage in the county and it is important to familiarize yourself with this pest.

Pasture mealybug has spread to 79 counties in Texas, putting grazing and forage grasses at risk. Losses could run $100 million to more than $1 billion a year, AgriLife Extension economists say.

This weekly webinar keeps you up to date with the latest information on New World Screwworm!

Preventing the spread and eradicating New World Screwworm (NWS) in Texas takes a coordinated effort across agencies and animal health partners. The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (TBVME) is supporting the state's response efforts by providing guidance and resources on NWS for veterinarians, shelters, and companion animal owners on their website.

In collaboration with state and federal agencies, TBVME hosts a weekly public webinar to keep stakeholders informed on prevention, detection, and response efforts.
